OUR STORY
Howdy, My name is Heather Reams, the founder of Lonesome Longhorn Productions. In the summer of 1993 I became a single mother of two precious daughters and was given a trained Texas longhorn (Handsome Hank) by my ex husband. I was then told, if I wanted child support I could go earn it my self with that very longhorn. I had no other options. Here I am over 31 years later with a thriving longhorn rental business, Lonesome Longhorn, that is now operated by my daughter Sierra Reams. We are a women owned and operated business. When life gives you a longhorn you become a true Texas cowgirl, make a thriving business for your family.
Our photo longhorns are all steers that we normally purchase from students that have shown them in 4H or FFA. Instead of going to the meat market, we buy them, and train them to allow guests and customers to have a once in a lifetime photo with them while getting to encounter a live longhorn up close and personal. Our longhorns get to live their privileged lives mostly out in the pasture hanging around eating, and once in a while getting to be a model, fat models I may add.
Our photo longhorns are not drugged, it take years for them to be trained to be patient and calm. By our choice, they do not work all day everyday. These animals are one of the hardest cattle out there and at one point for almost 200 years they where a wild animal, so although they can handle a lot its our decision to enforce working limits for overall longevity and well being. We started our photo-op business in the Fort Worth Stockyards, and grew from there. Since then, our longhorns have been featured in print ads, commercials, the View, in hotels and convention centers, in parades, and countless photoshoots. Many memorable celebrities have been a top our longhorns. A few to mention were, Tanya Tucker, Charley Daniels, Larry Mahan, Warren Buffet, Rick Perry and the list goes on. We would love to bring photo longhorns out for your next event.
Thanks, Heather and Sierra Reams.
My name is Sierra Reams, the oldest of Heather Reams, the founder of Lonesome Longhorn.
Although I have been raised around the longhorns and this business since I was two. One thing I wasn’t raised around, is knowing Jesus as my Lord and savior. I walked away from my home life and was in search for purpose and meaning when I was 17 and at age 20 joined the oil field for five years. I started pursuing the Lord quickly realizing He was everything I was seeking my whole life. Few years later I had a personal encounter with the love and holiness of Him. And I was sold. December 2023 I moved back home from 4 years on the mission field to take over my mother’s business.
Missions will always be on my heart but more than that being obedient to the one who sits enthroned for all eternity, pursuing Him and bringing His light wherever I’m at will always be first. I didn’t always love or see the unique privilege I was blessed with in this lifestyle and business. But I do now and I’m growing more and more appreciative and in love with it and the way it really brings a unique experience to others who don’t even know the difference between a bull and a steer. Which is such an awesome opportunity for me to freely give away all the hidden facts and things I know first hand about these unique animals.
